Lookout Mountain School of Horseshoeing and St. Croix Forge are proud to sponsor the annual shoeing seminar at the Lookout Mt. School in Gadsden, Alabama. The clinician will be Mark Milster. Mark is from Dibble, OK. His grandfather was a blacksmith and his father was a horseshoer. he received his Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice. He has been shoeing horses for 18 years. He has been competing in horse shoeing contests for 10 years. He made the U.S. horseshoeing Team in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004 and was the 2001 World Champion Blacksmith. he is a 6-time World Champion in Draft Horse Shoeing Competition, AFA Certified Journeyman Farrier, winner of John Gibson Cup at Edward Martin's Clydesdale shoeing competition in Scotland. He currently resides in Washington, Oklahoma and has a full time horse shoeing business. He has judged 2003 National Championship and has also judged internationally.

Clinic is FREE - Lunch provided. There is plenty of seating in large tent so clinic will go on, rain or shine.

There will also be a number of vendors set up at the clinic and door prizes will be given away throughout the day!

RICK WHEAT TRAINING CLINIC

Friday, October 16, 2009 at 9:00 AM, Mr. Rick Wheat, inventor of the Noveal Head Stall, will present clinic at Black Creek Stables, (next door to the school) on how to break horses using this unique tool. Starting at 9:00 AM, So please Don't forget this important event. Rick will explain this easy method of learning. Tell your friends - Clinic is FREE.
 

4rd Annual Mark Thorpe Memorial Contest
Friday, October 16th

This will be the 4th annual Mark Thorpe Memorial Contest. Proceeds from the contest and auction will be donated to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. Mark was instrumental in organizing ALPHA and served as its first President. Mark competed, hosted contests and encouraged continuing education. We want to honor Mark for his contributions to our Association, our profession and the example he was to all of us. Lunch at 11:00 AM - Contest starts at 12:00 Noon, Friday, October 16, 2009.

From Alabama Highway 211 go to Noccalula Falls. Turn onto Lookout Mountain Parkway (Tabor Rd). Go north approximately 6.2 miles. Turn right (Lewis Rd.). There is a Lookout Mt. School sign at the turn. Follow to end of this road. (Bear left at the Y).
